I received a rejection letter today for a writing project I submitted months ago.
The Lord immediately brought a word of encouragement to me, and I want to share it in case you, too, are in need of His encouragement.
I saw my life as a dot-to-dot picture. I don't need to worry about the big picture—the entire, finished picture. I don't need to stress over whether I will ever get that project published. I just need to travel to the next dot the Lord places in my path.
God knows the desires of my heart and the plans He has for me. They are all good. Was I disappointed? Yes. But my peace and joy don't depend on life going the way I want it to go.
Instead, I intentionally choose not to try to figure life out, but trust in God to direct my path. And in that, in focusing only on obediently stepping to the next dot, I walk in joy and peace.
And now … in case you are interested… let me tell you just a bit about where I am on the fourth BIZ novel!
I spent months plotting this book and used a new method. Now, I’m turning those ideas into delicious word pictures (scenes).
So I began with Biz as she is at the end of book 3. Then I decided how Biz would grow on her inner journey—her spiritual journey—in book four. Beginning. End. And then… the turning points in between. How would she realisitically get from point A to point Z? This is the fun part- the plot. Lots of fun and lots of conflict. True life. And best of all, God leading her from one dot to the next as she grapples with the changes in her life.
She’s a hoot! That will not change. But I think you’ll love the journey she takes to grow as a person.
